Let's start with the definition, since the word is oh so full of emotional baggage. From Wikipedia: "Selfishness is placing concern with oneself or one's own interests above the well-being or interests of others." Right then, fairly straightforward. How did this word acquire such a negative connotation in our culture? Who cares? Let's try a mental experiment and universally eliminate selfishness and see what happens to the world, shall we? Surely, it will be paradise on Earth, right?
In your mind, you may imagine an action like a mother sacrificing herself to protect her infant son from bullets with her body as an example of a selfless act. I would argue that the animal instinct behind that action knows nothing of ethics. Also, today I got the list of classes I'll be taking next year, not going to tell you guys the core classes, but I got stuck in two social studies classes and arts appreciation.... Arts appreciation is only required if you don't take two are/music/drama-related classes before graduation... which I planned on doing...

I did get two of the classes I wanted, though. I got into Internet and Web Page Design and AP Drawing. Which means a lot more deviations and maybe even a journal skin by the end of next school year. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to either get to go to college for free or find a different career, as they cancelled the IT program at the school. They've got a teacher to teach Internet & Web Page Design next year, but s/he may or may not teach it the year after that. This school is starting to really suck, I know some middle-schoolers who were counting on the IT program, and I was too. Dunno what I'm gonna do

I Love All My Watchers But...I love all my watchers but all of you guys seem to be ghost watchers. I've been a deviant for about 8 months and I've made over 250 deviation! I've got a little over 30 watchers, and over 1,800 pageviews. I know people that have more than that and they've been here a much shorter time, with less deviations. I've got nothing against them; in fact, I'm jealous of them. I like my ghost watchers and all, but I can't be sure if any of them are actually there or not. Like the name says, ghost watchers are pretty much invisible. I don't know if you guys view my page, look at my drawings/pictures, read my journals, etc. I have one or two watchers that favorite my stuff and/or talk to me, but the majority of you guys hit +watch and disappear. I don't mean to sound whiny, though I probably do, but I'd like to know that I'm not just posting this stuff for myself.
I guess that's just the way things are, though. And like I said, I love ALL my watchers, but still, I'd like to get a bit of recognitio

FeelingsI don't know what's wrong with people sometimes.
I mean sometimes people make fun of obese people or black people or even disabled children. I mean it makes me SO mad at them. Like I want to hurt them but that's wrong. Like different races or colors aren't bad it's JUST YOUR SKIN!!!!!It's not like you'll get a disease from them or anything. In my class everyone is white so no one gets picked on for that. But at other schools people get left out of sports or teams just cause their skin. Actually sometimes I wish I were black because I love how they look, I also sometimes wish I were Chinese because I LOVE how their hair is and their eyes their eyes are so mystical. Another thing is disabilities. If you can't talk right you get picked on A LOT. There is 1 kid in my class who sort of talks weird and gets picked on. Or if you cant walk right you feel left out in sports, some kids just don't understand what it's like to not have ever walked in your life. Also making fun of obese people is j

Lots of things have happened that way, I mean Amnesty International works that way for example and have a lot of success stories. Avaaz also has a lot of success stories, we helped bring down ACTA, also the Uganda's death bill for gays have been turned down every time because of public outcry through petitions.
