Eerie

This is a very nice photo- simple, but mesmerizing. The composition itself is very nice. I usually prefer the main focus of photos to be a bit off center, but I think the flame nearly centered works nicely. I like how it manages to be simple and detailed at the same time, the little bowl type thing beneath the candle holder itself (for lack of better description) is rather neat with that jagged texture. The black and white works well, and overall it is very soothing to look at- while, as the title implies, eerie at the same time.

I don't want to say that the focus is off, because it isn't- but the photo is a bit grainy. I like the sharpness of it, but I think you need to be careful as to not take that too far and end up with too much noise. When I think of candles, I tend to think of soft lines, and I think that could have added to the eerie effect- that's a personal opinion, of course, but if you are going to try for the sharpness (which is a very neat effect), I think you need to be careful that you don't make the photo to noisy.

Other than that, it's a very excellent photo. I like it, it's truly hypnotizing. Just pay attention to little details- it's a great work overall.
